The staff were really friendly and chatty. I was really happy with the colour of my hair and the conditioning treatment was fab. Would definitely go back again.

I had a really good experience at Shrine. I had paid for a deal that included a consultation, conditioning treatment and haircut / finish with the salon director, Monix.
The place is well situated, attractive, welcoming and friendly. The staff were all unpretentious and totally professional.
Monix took the time to listen carefully to my hair problems (many!) and understood completely what I needed, we talked through everything before I had my hair conditioning treatment and then she cut my hair. It was excellent and really amazing value for money. I will definitely be returning.

Excellent service was provided throughout. This is a very modern salon with friendly staff who are knowledgeable on all treatments.

The treatment provided was first class and I would definitely recommend this salon.

even though their was a mixup with my appointment the staff rallied round and fitted me in within 10 mins which was very gracious of them seeing as it was friday and very busy. Samantha ended up taking care of me, she did afantastic job matching my haircolour, overall great experience i will definately be back.
p.s. i printed the wrong coupon but for a small charge sam did the colour instead of haircut.

I hadn’t been for a hair cut in a year before going to Shrine after developing quite the fear of them. The past two hair cuts (one at Elite in Armley) the other i can’t remember where disastrous causing me the leave in tears and become depressed with my boyish crop hair cut which i never asked for! Safe to say i was pretty nervous entering the salon thinking of what i was going to come out with and finally being happy with my current length. My hair was really dry and brittle and desperately in need of a trim – atleast!
My stylist i think her name was Monix and came from the North East (like me) 🙂 put me at ease straight away and settled my down with a nice glass of wine. I told her of my nerves and she really listened and understood what i wanted. I asked for a trim and was delighted with the result. Jenny put on a treatment for my dry locks too which made my hair silky smooth. Great experience and restored my faith in hairdressers!
Thank you very much, i’ll definitely be back again!

I found it quite easy to get an appointment using the online booking system. I had an appointment with the top stylist and she was extremely friendly and helpful in advising what she thought she could do with my hair. I would have liked to have received a longer head massage when getting my hairwashed as it was quite brief compared to other salons but that’s about it.

I went to Shrine after I tried to colour my hair at home and ended up with a terrible orange mess. I had an appointment with Monix – Shire’s director – and I can’t say enough how pleasant and helpful she was. Colour I left with wasn’t exactly what I was hoping for but Monix and other colourist whose name I can’t recall were clear about that upfront. I thourougly enjoyed thehead massage and helpful tips about how to do a perfect blow-dry at home. All in all, great service and very good results.

What a lovely salon and fab hair stylist, a lovely warm welcome and nice surroundings. discussed what i wanted without rushing even though it was a saturday and they were busy, then a nice hair wash followed by a great cut and blow dry. I was even offerd a glass of champers but opted for a coffee! Will go back again.

I originally went to Shrine earlier this year as part of a Wahanda deal and have been back 3 or 4 times since. I have never had a problem getting an appointment and they have 20% off for students on Wednesdays which makes it a little more affordable than most top salons. I have my haircut with Monix who is always very friendly and chatty and makes you feel like a special customer every time as she remembers so much about you and what you have previously told her.

Book yourself in! A girl called Monix did my hair…. It was brilliant…. and the sytle lasted ages not the usual few days like where I’ve been in the past. Top notch salon too

My knowledge of beauty-related outlets in Leeds is, admittedly, limited but I’ve cycled passed The Shrine repeatedly on my way to town. A few things drew my attention to it. First, the large silhouetted Buddha on the window and then the name: being into yoga I am familiar with the idea that the body is one’s temple. I think this is probably what the marketing department of this company had in mind when choosing these potent motifs and I willingly fell for it.

Having had hand-knotted messy dreadlocks and an undercut for 3 years it was a big step deciding to go to pay someone to give me a proper hair cut. After diligently chopping and brushing out the accumulated dirt until my hair was chin length, I decided the final stages of rescue had to be tackled by a professional. So off I popped to the salon that had most prominently stuck in my mind.

As an in-experienced salon visitor I was a little nervous but all the staff were very friendly when I explained my desperate need for a hair cut. I had an idea that I wanted something asymmetrical and started making hand gestures around my head that probably made no sense. But my stylist – a young Leeds lady – seemed to catch my drift and explained the options. More importantly she explained that, even though I might want a random shaved bit on one side, it all had to make sense as a whole cut. She talked about how it would look when it grew out, probably realising that I would not become a frequent customer. I didn’t feel in any way uncomfortable, as I had imagined I would – the space and the banter pleasant to be part of. As the Buddha suggested in the window it had a calm atmosphere. Best of all I didn’t feel pressured into anything I didn’t really want. As I left I took them up on the offer of being put on their mailing list for future money-saving offers – even though I haven’t yet returned it would bemy first port of call in a future hair-cutting event, especially as it wasn’t overpriced – only £33 for a whole restyle! Some people didn’t even recognise me.
I would even consider visiting for another beauty treatment as their hair removing and massage treatments were also reasonably priced.

Shrine Salon & Spa genuinely treat customers as individuals and as a customer you will receive a personal consultation to find out exactly what you want and to avoid those horrible and embarrassing situations where you don’t like your haircut and run home crying. They offer many different treatments, not just for hair. These include, facials, massages, nail treatments, tanning, holistic therapies using hot stones, and hair removal by waxing. They are one of the only spa’s in North England to use Lycon waxing which is supposed to be a much more comfortable waxing experience. They do also do traditional waxing treatments if you prefer, Lycon comes at £5 more than traditional waxing treatments.

I am not a fan of tanning, and I don’t think anyone should be either, you are a human not a steak, cooking yourself is BAD…but each to their own. The other treatments do look very interesting though, I would definitely try the massage, and the interior and decor looks very peaceful, unlike many salons full of luminous pink accessories, fake breasts and lots of women who have been majorly tangoed. This is the higher end of the realm of beauty salons.

They also do Worship Wednesdays where students receive 25% off hair treatments and 20% of beauty spa treatments. Damn! I wish I was still a student!

Just a quick note to say superb. Defo recommend

So, leading up to the big day of my sister’s wedding I simply had to get my hair cut. I’d not been in perhaps six months and although my hair was a lot longer it was a lot messier to boot. I decided to give Shrine a go and so gave them a call, fortunately booking the last available slot at 3.15pm. I voyaged over to their salon, just missing the torrential rain, and was greeted nicely at the desk. My hair dresser Sam was just finishing up with another lady so I sat and had a coffee. In almost no time at all she was ready to go!

So I had my greasy mop washed, during which a head massage was offered, but I was pressed for time so politely declined. I wasn’t sure if this might come at an extra charge, I suppose I can only assume it would be as surely no one is that kind to go around offering free head massages, but who knows – perhaps it is all part of the service? I shall have to inquire next time!

So, Sam came over once I was ready and we discussed what I should do. I explained that I was in desperate need of a cut and that I wanted to try something fringe related but needed a second opinion. She initially said that given I’d said I liked vintage stylings that we could go for a bold fringe which framed my face and although it sounded great I was just too afraid that I would regret it! We opted for a sweepy side fringe, as a compromise, and she re-shaped my layers and such. As soon as the cut was finished, dried and styled in these beautiful vintage curls, I knew she had done a fantastic job.

I went from a total scruffer to Paloma Faith all in the space of 45 minutes and was really pleased. She offered lots of advice on how to maintain it, saying that if the fringe needed a top up snip to just pop in and they’d squeeze me in, which sounds fab. I purchased some products to try and make a better effort with keeping my barnett tidy and although the cut was £35 I feel really chuffed to bits with my new do. My only regret is that I didn’t have the time to ask for it to be re-dyed as well!

Can I compliment Lorna on her exceptional service on my last visit. I have never before had such a pleasant and therapeutic hair removal session. She managed to make what is usually a painful and, even, embarrassing treatment into a relaxing and enjoyable experience.

I have raved about your spa, Lycon waxing and, in particular, Lorna to colleagues and friends.

Long may you all continue to offer these services.
Anne

Thanks for my great re-style. I was really nervous, after bad experience at another salon in Leeds, now all my friends are asking where I had my hair cut and coloured. Thanks to Monix , Debbie.

Thankyou to everyone at Shrine who made me look so beautiful for my wedding day. Mike and I had a wonderful day. Carol.

The stylists are friendly whilst still professional and the spa therapists are good and professional too. Regular cutsomers are rewarded with special offers, so it’s well worth signing up to their newsletter to be kept infomed of the monthly deals. There prices are very good value too
